Meldick
Farms is dedicated to the memories of Richard H. Swanson and Melvin C.
Swanson, who established the farm in 1960. The farm was originally a
family dairy farm that operated until 1993 when Richard retired from
the dairy industry. The farm is still family owned and operated by Todd
and Lori Swanson. In 2001 they began the efforts to convert the
established dairy into a grass-based operation.
The farm got its new name in 2007 when
we added Texas Longhorns. The Longhorn Registry required a ranch
name and a registered brand.
The barbed heart is our registered
brand, representing our love of the land, the animals and each other.
It is this love that binds or holds us together. The barb signifies
the holding power of this love.
